Advocates voice concerns about Rochester PAB’s future, council prepares to vote on appealing March court ruling

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Advocates for Rochester’s Police Accountability Board will hold a press conference on the steps of City Hall on Tuesday. They’re concerned about the future of the PAB and the layoffs of all its investigators.

Rochester City Council announced on Monday that it will appeal the state Appellate Court’s decision that removed the board’s ability to independently investigate alleged misconduct within the police department.

Council members plan to vote Tuesday on hiring outside legal counsel to pursue the appeal if needed.
