ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Broadway Theatre League and Roberts Wesleyan University are partnering on a program aiming to support music education at local high schools.
RBTL announced the collaboration on Monday. As part of the program, Roberts Wesleyan will award a full-tuition music scholarship each year to one student in RBTL’s Stars of Tomorrow program. That’s the annual showcase of high school musical performers, featuring up to 50 local schools.
“Great arts communities invest in the next generation. Young musicians need opportunities to grow their gifts and find ways to share them. Both the RBTL and Roberts Wesleyan provide those opportunities, and together, we can provide even more,” said Dr. Nicholas Willis, president of Roberts Wesleyan University.
Organizers say the scholarship will allow local talent to pursue their passion for the performing arts at the college level. Roberts Wesleyan University’s Music & Performing Arts Department offers a focus in music performance, music education, music therapy, and more.
