Police say the shooting was related to an ongoing dispute between the two.

Death of Karen Wargo

On July 10, 2025, Wargo was found dead on the sidewalk on Pleasant Street, off North Clinton Avenue. The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined her cause of death to be a combination of blunt force trauma to the head and asphyxiation, ruling it a homicide.

Police watched surveillance footage that showed her being assaulted and kicked by Haygood.

Haygood’s prior convictions

According to police, Haygood has three prior felony convictions and four misdemeanor convictions. They say in 2024, Haygood was convicted of attempted arson and endangering the welfare of a child after trying to start a house fire with a kid inside.
