ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Genesee Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church served food at its pantry on Sunday afternoon at its quarterly community day.
People also had the chance to get clothing and shoes. Pantry coordinator Sherrita Hope said this is a moment to interact and connect with the community.
“Not only do they understand that the food pantry is here, but they understand that the people behind it are also here if they need it whenever they come in,” Hope said. “As support, to talk to, to just have a friendly face when we’re out and about in the community, because a lot of people live and work in this area and we see them at different places, the library or the grocery store, so it’s really nice.”
Hope said there aren’t any requirements when visiting the pantry and that people should feel comfortable getting the resources they need.
