HENRIETTA, N.Y. — Highland Cardiology in Henrietta, off of Red Creek Drive, has temporarily closed, according to a public relations official with the facility. The closure does not apply to Highland Hospital; only Highland Cardiology has closed temporarily, according to a statement on Sunday.
This comes after a fire reportedly broke out at Highland Cardiology on Saturday.
Statement
Patrizia Corvaia, public relations director at a Highland facility, put out the following statement:
“The care of our patients is of utmost importance. Highland Cardiology at Red Creek is temporarily closed. We are contacting patients affected to let them know they will be seen at other practices.”
Original information on Saturday’s fire
Firefighters responded to a fire at the medical facility on Red Creek Drive Saturday morning after smoke detectors and a water flow alarm were activated.
Henrietta Fire District companies got to the scene just after 8:30 a.m., according to a press release from the fire district. Units arrived to find the building being evacuated and smoke visible inside.
Firefighters say they quickly located a fire on the first floor that was being held in check by the building’s automatic sprinkler system. The fire district says crews put out the fire and that everyone got out safely.
The Brighton Fire Department assisted on scene, along with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and CHS Mobile Integrated Healthcare. Gates Fire District covered a serious medical emergency in Henrietta while crews remained committed to the incident.
“This incident serves as another reminder of the critical role automatic sprinkler systems play in protecting lives and property,” the fire district said.
