Drone caught delivering contraband at Marcy Correctional Facility in Oneida County

MARCY, N.Y. — Staff at an Oneida County prison seized a drone that was trying to deliver contraband to the prison.

According to the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), staff at Marcy Correctional Facility detected a drone nearby at around 1 a.m. Saturday.

Staff found the drone outside the prison. It dropped a package between dorm buildings inside the prison’s secure fence.

DOCCS says the drone was carrying two knives, a cell phone, a green leafy substance, paper soaked in intoxicating chemicals, and more.

This comes as the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is sounding the alarm about potential drone dangers. News10NBC’s Adelisa Badzic brought you that story last week.
