Chris Lillis’ family gathers at Fairport Brewing Company, celebrating his Olympic participation

FAIRPORT, N.Y. — The family of men’s aerial skier Chris Lillis gathered at Fairport Brewing Company to celebrate his participation in the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. News10NBC’s Tom Kowalski was on the scene to capture the excitement and support from the community.

Chris Lillis’ mother, Jamie Lillis, expressed gratitude for the community’s support. “We love all the support we get from the community,” said Jamie Lillis. “Chris feels the love every time he comes back with all the younger kids and everything. So the community and that is very important to him.”

Jamie and Bernie Lillis, Chris’ parents, shared their hopes for his performance. “Two golds would be awesome,” Jamie Lillis said.

Chris’ grandmother, Sheila Cahill, was thrilled to watch him compete. “Oh, I’m thrilled. I am thrilled. I am. I just I can’t wait to watch him,” said Cahill.

Chris’ brother, Mason Lillis, appreciated the community’s support. “It’s fun to see that a lot of people like to support him,” Mason Lillis said. “Obviously we have hoodies out here for people that want to support and get out here. And, you know, like, help him out, mentally.”

Family friend Jack Harrison shared his pride in Chris’ achievements. “As someone from Rochester, just seeing him be at the Olympics and conquering it is amazing,” said Harrison.

Chris Lillis is set to compete on Jan. 17 in the Men’s Aerials event.

The “Team Lillis” sweatshirts seen at the event honor Chris’ younger brother, Mikey, who died in 2017. Proceeds from the sweatshirts will help cover expenses like rent and insurance while Lillis is abroad. U.S. Olympians do not receive payment for their participation.
