HOMER, N.Y. — New York State Police urged drivers to clear all snow and ice from their vehicles before hitting the road. Snow or ice left on the roof or hood can blow off at highway speeds and pose a serious danger.

Tak a look at the photos posted by New York State Police. A slab of ice fell from a tractor trailer on I-81 in Homer on Friday, striking a pickup truck and smashing its windshield and driver’s side window. The pickup driver was not seriously injured and was evaluated by EMS at the scene.
Troopers are working to identify the tractor trailer’s operator, who did not stop. Officials advised taking a few extra minutes to clear your vehicle to prevent serious injuries or worse.
