GENESEE COUNTY, N.Y. — A round of lake effect snow west of Rochester has caused some schools to close on Tuesday and has prompted a travel advisory in Genesee County.
The First Alert Weather team is tracking periods of moderate to heavy snow to the west, especially in Genesee and Wyoming counties, where winter storm warnings are up through Wednesday afternoon. You can livestream News10NBC TODAY now through 7 a.m. for the latest on the timing.
At least nine schools have announced closures, including the Batavia, Albion, Warsaw, Wyoming, and Medina school districts. You can see the latest list here.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging drivers to avoid unnecessary travel because the locally heavy snow could create reduced visibility. The county posted the advisory on Monday night and it will remain in effect until further notice.
