ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a concert Sunday at the Hochstein School of Music. The performance featured music aimed at honoring Dr. King’s legacy of hope, courage, and unity.
Strings for Success performed “O Come Little Children” during the program.
“The unity of the orchestra definitely is a metaphor for the unity of the city, the state, this country, the world,” said Herb Smith, conductor and trumpet player.
Smith said he was excited for the opportunity to conduct the orchestra due to the high level of music performed.
The concert concluded with a rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
