2 teens charged after being accused of shooting 18-year-old on Emerson Street

 

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two teens are facing charges after being accused of shooting an 18-year-old on Emerson Street on Oct. 7.

Rochester Police say it happened at around 9:20 p.m. on Oct. 7. They say when they got to Emerson Street, they found the 18-year-old with at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.

The victim was brought to the hospital with serious injuries, but police say medical staff were able to stabilize him.

Police say during preliminary investigations, they found that the victim was walking on Emerson Street when at least one of the suspects shot him as they both walked by, and then left the area.

On Oct. 10, RPD’s SWAT team executed a search warrant on Byers Court, where police say they took a 17-year-old into custody and took him to the Children’s Detention Center.

On Wednesday, police say they were able to find the second suspect, a 16-year-old, who was leaving a home on South Plymouth Avenue and took him into custody. He was also brought to the Children’s Detention Center.

Both suspects were charged with attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
