PALMYRA, N.Y. — Workers at Garlock Sealing in Palmyra went on strike, with around 200 employees on the picket line. The workers’ union is demanding better wages, working conditions, and health benefits.
“We want better wages, better conditions – and what was offered, we didn’t care for,” said Andrew Persinger, from International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Local 588. “So we’re going on strike to show them that we mean business, you know?”
Garlock manufactures industrial products such as gaskets, pipe seals, and joints. The union and the company returned to the negotiating table Monday afternoon.
News10NBC reached out to Garlock Sealing for comment and is waiting for a response.
