ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 9-year-old boy was brought to the hospital Friday night after Rochester Police say he was hit by a car.
Police say they responded to Lake Avenue Friday just before 8 p.m. for a report of a hit-and-run. They say they got there and found the boy with an injury to his lower body.
Through interviews, police say they learned the child was with his mother and other kids and adults when a car backed up and hit him, and then fled.
Police say they later found the suspect, a 34-year-old City of Rochester resident, on Murray Street and took him into custody, issuing him citations.
The 9-year-old was brought to Strong Memorial Hospital for his injuries and is expected to survive.
