GREECE, N.Y. — On Sunday around 1:00 a.m., officers responded to Castleford Road for reports of gunshots. When police arrived, they found evidence of gunshots that hit a residence, no one was reported injured. This led to an investigation over the next few days, leading to multiple underaged suspects and one adult suspect being charged.
Investigators say they used surveillance cameras and the Town of Greece’s License Plate Reader network to identify a vehicle that was stolen from Penfield. The vehicle was believed to be related to the shooting.
The report says that on Monday, Greece police were involved in a pursuit, when the chase then went on foot on Cameron Street in Rochester. This led to a 16-year-old Rochester resident being arrested, police say. Rochester police found the stolen vehicle on Kondolf Street.
Then on Tuesday, a second vehicle was found and determined by investigators to be related to the incident that happened back on Sunday. A traffic stop was conducted by Rochester police, leading to the detention of multiple people. A search warrant was then executed at a residence on Haviland Park, according to police.
The investigation on Haviland Park found a ghost gun pistol, prompting police to arrest additional suspects. Police say the pistol was related to the house shooting back on Sunday.
Three underaged teens were arrested, aged 15, 16, and 17, along with Jose Ortiz, a 22-year-old from Rochester, according to police.
Ortiz and the juveniles were charged with prohibited use of a weapon, reckless endangerment in the first degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
The juveniles were held in secure detention and Ortiz was taken to the Monroe County Jail for arraignment in CAP Court.
