Over 100 cars broken into in Perinton and Penfield, 5 suspects in custody

PERINTON, N.Y. — Monroe County sheriff’s deputies say five people are in custody after over 100 cars were broken into in eastside neighborhoods Thursday morning.

Now, investigators say they’re interviewing the suspects and deputies are in the involved neighborhoods collecting evidence. Officials say the northern Perinton and southern Penfield neighborhoods off Whitney Road and Route 441 were hit the hardest.

Deputies say there isn’t a threat, but ask neighbors to call 911 if they have any information or camera footage from Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.
