Former Trump lawyer Ellis pleads guilty in Georgia election case

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Another former lawyer for Trump, Jenna Ellis, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a charge related to the former U.S. president’s efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat in the state of Georgia.

Ellis is the third member of Trump’s legal team to reach a deal with Georgia prosecutors in the last week after guilty pleas from Sydney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro.

Ellis pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting false statements and writings. The agreement calls for her to be sentenced to five years of probation and $5,000 in restitution.

She will also be required to testify against Trump and other co-defendants in the case if called upon.
