Fire destroys home on Manitou Street on city’s northeast side, roads still closed hours later

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A house on Manitou Street on the city’s northeast side was seriously damaged after becoming engulfed in flames on Wednesday morning.

News10NBC still sees crews at the scene and roads shut down hours after the fire broke out. The first calls came in just before 2:30 a.m. for the house between Clifford and Fernwood avenues.

Our photojournalist saw flames coming through multiple windows of the home as crews were spraying water. We also saw firefighters cutting a tree down to get better access, and neighbors moving their cars.

Neighbors say several people lived in the home. We have reached out to the Rochester Fire Department to learn if anyone was hurt, if the house is a total loss, and how many people were displaced. Check back for updates.
