18,000 customers without power in Fairport area amid frigid temperatures

FAIRPORT, N.Y. — An issue with transmission lines has left 18,000 customers without power in the Fairport area on Friday morning, the village has confirmed.

There is no estimated time for the restorations, says Bryan White, the village manager and general manager of electric operations. With the frigid temperatures and the wind chill, he’s advising people to take safety measures. The First Alert Weather team is forecasting a high of only 26 degrees on Friday.

White says there’s an issue with National Grid lines that provide power to the area. We have a crew heading to Fairport to learn more and track the impact.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
